You likely need a new ignition coilpack. I had this happen with mine also.
You adjust the timing by moving the crank angle sensor. The crank angle sensor is driven by the camshaft closest to the intake manifold (passenger side of the engine) and is located behind the cylinder head and valve cover. Losen the bolt that secures the crank angle sensor, in order to move the crank angle sensor.
The easiest and most effective way to check a crank sensor is with a diagnostic tester. The diagnostic tester can determine whether the crank sensor is working properly.
It is not difficult to replace at all on either models. The Crank Angle Sensor on a Mazda Miata differs for the varying years: On 99-05 Miatas, it is located to the right of the Crank Pulley at the bottom of the engine. It can be reached by removing the splash pan under the car. On 90-97 models, it is on the back of the valve cover on the driver's side (assuming Left-hand drive models). When replacing it, you must also purchase a new Crank Angle Seal (just a round rubber grommet).
Any number of different reasons. Most likely the starter in the Miata needs to be replaced. Search on here for how to do it; I posted the instructions already, and it's very easy for one person to do. Please Re read question, if its cranking I assume the starter is functioning......
The average maintenance cost for a 1992 Mazda Miata typically ranges from $300 to $500 per year, depending on factors like mileage, condition, and how often it's driven. Common expenses include routine oil changes, brake pad replacements, and occasional repairs due to the vehicle's age. Owners may experience higher costs if significant components need replacement or if the car is driven extensively. Overall, the Miata is known for its reliability, which can help keep maintenance costs relatively low.
Belt slipping? Bad bearing in belt driven accessory?
You say MX5, not Miata, so do you really mean 2006 or newer MX5? If you really mean 1990-2005 Miata then the water pump is behind the timing belt cover. It is not driven by the t-belt, but the t-belt must be removed to change the pump.
On a 1990 Mazda Miata, the alternator is located on the front of the engine, mounted to the driver's side. It is attached to the engine block and is driven by a serpentine belt. To access it, you may need to remove the plastic engine cover and possibly the air intake duct for better visibility and reach.
Will a 1992 mazda miata hardtop fit a 2000 mazda miata?
BE CAREFUL! Does the engine crank? ** IF it doesn't, the air intake may have sucked up water and locked the compression cylinders hydrolically. IF it doesn't crank, pull the plugs out and try to crank the engine so that it pumps out the water. Replace the plugs and try to start again.** **IF it does, it just may need to dry out.**
Maybe it is out of gas, or perhaps just old age. Seriously, who is posting these ridiculous questions?
