Belt slipping? Bad bearing in belt driven accessory?
The belt needs to be properly tensioned and aligned. It may need to be loosened or tightened, or lined up with the pulley. Worn belts should be replaced. Occasionally belts may squeal or squeak even if properly installed. Although it is not recommended where other problems exist, there are retail sprays that can lubricate belts safely in these circumstances.
The AC belts are probably stretched and loose. I had the same problem and replaced belts and cured squeak.
I had a shop change my belts and plugs and now it runs really bad. I think that when they replaced the belts that they moved it out of time.
how many belts are in mazda 626
check and adjust belts
I just replaced my fan belts on a 2002 Mazda Protege. It came out to a little over $200. I took my car to a Mazda dealership.
Automatic transmission fluid does not squeal. You have a different problem. Brakes squeal, bearings squeal, and belts squeal. Fluids do not squeal. You had better take your vehicle to a mechanic.
After I had my belts replaced my a/c belt squealed the next day. But I returned to have it adjusted (mechanic said it probably would need it) and it's been fine since. Belts loosen up just a bit when new, I was told.
Loose belts
Timing Belt.... Check all your belts.
If the squealing noise is coming from the drive belts, perhaps they need to be replaced or one of the accessories has bad bearings and is seizing up when it gets hot.
Hello, I have a 2002 Protege5 with the same problem. I am quite sure that it is the serpentine belt as the squeal started after I had both belts replaced at 60,000 miles. I would check to see if one of them is too loose. Good Luck!
