i have the same problem with my car. my ex told me that it has to be a open connection somewhere along the wires. so i am about to go through all the wires right now and try to find where it is. oddly enough my dash lights were working and all of a sudden they too quit. wish me luck!
REPLACE THE BULB
bulb # for brake light on your explorer is a 3157 backup light bulb # is 3156 hope this helps
It comes out the back of the light housing.
the bulb for brake and signal lights has two elements. in your case the element for brakes is open and you will have to replace bulb.
Hmmm, kind of unusual because the same bulb filament serves BOTH the blinker and the brake function. It could be a short in the wire from the brake switch leading back to that particular bulb and if the left brake light work okay it would have to be somewhere AFTER the wires leading to the rear lights branch off from one another. Are you CERTAIN that the right rear signal blinker DOES work?
may be the connector that the bulb plugs into
In order to change the brake light, check your manual for directions. You will need to remove the cover and replace the burnt out bulb.
To change the brake light bulb on a 1999 Honda Passport find the light housing located in the trunk. Find the plastic covers for the lights and remove them. Pull the bulbs out carefully and replace them.
That warning light means a light bulb is out. Check all of your brake lights (including the brake light on the rear dash!)
Two filaments in the light bulb. One is the tail light, the other is the brake light.
That means that the bulb in the blinker needs to be replaced.
