He may be: stressed, sick, or instinctively "marking his territory". The best way is to have your Shiba Inu neutered if he hadn't been or check him for any signs of distress or pain (if so, contact the vet immediately). You can get some deodorizing spray from PetSmart and PetCo.
They can be compatible if Shiba can be well trained not to be aggressive.

ya kinda I hope not Depends what you mean. If you mean by just meeting other dogs in the park, then no. They are dominant and slightly aggressive with other dogs. It is best to keep them under control when walking on a leash. If you mean by getting another dog and you already have a Shiba Inu, then they will be a bit hesitant. Shibas do not like to share their private space and no doubt a puppy will be a gigantic change for them. You will have to let them get used to any new additions to your family.
I would say yes! I had 3 shiba-inus and they all needed leashes. They are VERY loving dogs. The girls are usually easier to train than the boys. They are also excellent hunters. And if they run away you probably won't get them back. I recomend a leash, until they are FULLY trained:)
