Is a Wicklow collie just another name for a Border collie or is there a difference?

I had a Wicklow Collie in Ireland. She was about one third smaller than a normal sized Border Collie. Her parents were also smaller. She was very smart with strong work ethic. I was unable to find that breed anywhere else outside of Ireland.

Hi I have never heard a border collie doing that so you should take him to the vet or he might have worms.

What is the ideal weight of a male Border Collie?

my full grown male border collie weighs 20kg, he is 22 inches tall at the shoulder. Normal weight will differ for gender, age, and height of the dog, but should be around 35-35 pounds (14-20 kg) for males and 27-42 pounds (12-19 kg) for females.

How do you care for a border collie?

These dogs are VERY hyperactive. If you get one, you'll need a big backyard, a large open field, or a park nearby. Their instincts are to herd, so if you have any small children, do NOT get a Border Collie. We had one when my sister was a baby and we had to get rid of her because she nipped at her. So, I'm saying this one more time, if you have small children, do NOT get a border collie. For food, feed it normal dry dog food like iams or purina dog chow. There are certain foods for certain needs, like strength, energy, shiny coat and teeth, and also a puppy formula. A few days after getting your border collie, go to the veterinarian to see if your border collie needs some shots or if they have worms (If they're a puppy they most likely have worms). You'll also need to take them on plenty of walks, get them lots of toys, and give them lots of attention. You can learn more about the breed in dog care books and you'll need to train your dog too.

How do you groom your collie?

It depends on which breed of collie you have. There are several, but they are very different: the rough collie, smooth collie, the border collie, and the bearded collie . The rough collie is the Lassie-type dog, and usually, having two brushes is good for normal daily purposes. Show grooming is much more involved. The one brush should be a comb-like one (for thick undercoat), and the other with shorter spikes (for the upper coat). They sometimes come in 2-packs at pet stores. The comb-like one should be used first, especially behind the ears and the fur on and adjacent to the tail. Then comes the other brush to pick up the excess fur. Brushing every other day is good to keep the tangles out. Washing should be less frequent, as it makes the coat dry and dull. Once a month, perhaps, twice at most, if it's summer and your dog is stinky.
