I know this seems obvious but you didn' mention checking the ignition switch. Possibly the start contacts are ok but the run contacts are open. This will result in the symptoms you mention.
The ignition module is located in the distributor, under the distributor cap.
see if there is a small coil in the bottom of the distributor, you have to pull the distributor out to replace it

The Ignition Control Module on the 4 cyl models is located under the Distributor cap.
The ignition module is integral to the distributor and is not serviced as as separate part.

If it is a newer model (no distributor) then it sounds like the Ignition Control pack is bad. If it is older (with a distributor) then replace the Ignition coil inside the distributor cap.
inside the distributor. pull the distributor cap off and it's attached to the distributor toward the firewall.
it's underneath the rotor in the distributor. you have to take the distributor out to change it.
From what I can find out it seems to be located inside the distributor. You must remove the distributor cap to see it. For pictures check the link.
