Your 97 jeep wrangler 4.0 L has a hard time starting if it sits for longer than 10 minutes it takes 5-6 seconds before it fires but if turned over right after it is turned off it fires right away?

Maybe need new spark plugs? I'm not an expert, but that is what it sounds like to me.
I am having the same problem with my 88 wrangler and just changed all my spark plugs so that shouldn't be it.
Hey guys, I have a '98 wrangler and I have this similar problem ... and its a fuel pump issue. Sounds like your vehicle just isn't primed and after you turn it off and start it again its primed.. check your fuel pump.
