Your PS3 will only play dvds and cds but not your games what is wrong?

Maybe the cds and dvds are like from a different country and the ps3 came frome England so that made the ps3 think 'oh this cd/dvd is from a different region so it changed region settings
PS I dont have a ps3 so dont blame me if its wrong!
Maybe the games are not PS3 games.
