obviously the problem is not the alternator.check the starter for a short,check cables and wiring for shorts. do you have a voltage regulator. check that. have the battery checked and if you have stuff checked, go to a different mechanic because someone is not helping fix the problem

I had this problem. The alternator was fine, it was the battery that was bad. The alternator was "pegging" out the indicator bc it was trying to charge the battery, but it wasnt taking charge. Take the battery out and have it checked.
