It could very well be a boil aka an abcess which is an infected and clogged sweat pore. they can be found in mainly the armpit and groin area because they are prone to sweat more. Sometimes they drain pus and blood themselves and return to normal leaving a small scar, but most times (especially for armpits) a doctor needs to drain it or surgically remove it.

A small lump in the armpit is probably an inflamed lymph node. It can be caused by allergies, infection, and hormonal changes in the body.
