There is no 22 gauge firearm manufactured by anyone. If it is a 10, 12, 16 20, 24, 28 or 410 gauge it is a shot gun. If it is a 22 calibre rifle, it should be marked on the top or side of the barrel, forward of the receiver.

It was made by REMINGTON in 1943. you probably have a Colt slide on a REMINGTON frame. this is not unusual. many times different make slides on found on different make frames.....................

It is believed that Eliphalet Remington made his first rifle for a competition shoot in 1816. However as a "company" he originally made just barrels which can be found on early flintlocks. To my knowledge there is no known flintlock that has been found completely made by Remington.
