Turn up the mains pressure or replace your water lines if you have galvanised piping, the internal diameter might have been reduced due to rust.

How To Determine The Best Way To Install Plumbing In YourPole Barn?

You can incorporate many great amenities in your pole barns. One option is to install plumbing in these buildings. The addition of a plumbing installation allows you to build full bathrooms and install sink areas for many great conveniences. Here is a simple guide to help you understand the process of what it takes to install plumbing in your pole barn buildings. Step 1. Before you begin installing plumbing in your pole barn, you should know which laws and regulations you need to follow. Different zoning ordinances have different laws regarding building codes. Contact your local zoning board to see if there are any special permits or licenses you may need in order to install plumbing in your pole barn. As with any home improvement or construction project that requires digging you should contact your local utility companies to request them to tag areas that you should not dig in. Not doing this could result in you having costly repair bills to your utility companies for wires that can get damaged. Step 2. You will need to determine if you want to have a drainage system in your pole barn or just a way of obtaining running water. If you want to install bathrooms or sinks in your pole, you will need to install a drainage system. Installing a drainage system will require that you make a new connection to your septic or sewer system. Some building code regulations require that you also install a gray-water system. Step 3. You have a few options when it comes to finding a way to obtain running water to your pole barn. These options include tapping into a spring that may be located by your property line, drilling an underground well to supply your water needs, having a new connection installed to the local water supply or creating a connection to your home’s existing water connection. Depending on the option you chose will determine the way you will need to run your plumbing lines. There are benefits and drawbacks to each of these options with no right or wrong choice. Step 4. You will need to determine where you want the running water and/ or drainage to be located inside of your pole barn. If you want a hot water option, such as for installation of a sink or shower facility, you will need to install a water heater in your pole barn as well. You will also need to calculate the amount and type of plumbing piping you will want to use for your water supply lines and drainage lines. Step 5. If you are planning on installing a drainage system to your pole barn you will need to find a location for your plumbing vents. This may require the need to run the venting lines for the drainage through the roof of your pole barn. Step 6. The actual installation of your plumbing fixtures, water lines and drainage lines is not a task you should take lightly. This is actually a big investment and you do not want to make costly mistakes. Plan your installation of these items very carefully and make sure that you get all inspections on your work as necessary.

Is rebar needed in concrete footings for posts?

If the posts are to support a structure such as a house or barn, yes. If the posts are to support a rail-fence, no. Check with your local municipality's code enforcement office for permit requirements. Then draw, draw, draw!

When building a clear span pole barn is there an appreciable strength difference between a 3 in 12 pitch and a 4 in 12 pitch roof?

The steeper the pitch of any roof, the more resistance it has to developed live loads, such as snow or ice. The difference between a 3/12 and a 4/12 is not great, but the 4/12 is stronger. Another issue to consider is the roof's ability to shed water...3/12 is typically the shallowest pitch recommended for both metal and ashaltic type shingles. A 4/12 is a step better and is more likely to prevent failures during the life of the roof and will serve the roofing warrantee better.

Are 3 2x6's as strong as a 6x6 post And if using 2x6s is it strong enough for a beam to span 12 feet Posts and beams of 2x6s to b staggered to create a tongue and groove type connection for pole barn?

Laminating 2x6's is a much better idea, it won't twist like a PT 6x6, it is less expensive, and you can use a combination of lumber. I built a 24x 40 ' barn a few years ago for a woodworking shop. I used 4 pieces of 2x6, this gave me a doubled space at the top to slide in laminated doubled 2x12's ... I used 0.40 PT lumber at the bottom and regular KD above, I laminated the bottom with staggered board lengths... I used a 12, 10 and two 8 footers, I needed an 18 ' post to have 4' in ground and 14' above. I also used stainless steel nails below ground and regular above, a nail gun sure was handy. After the posts were in, I drilled holes and used a 6 inch 3/8th carriage bolt to reinforce the connection. I overbuilt my barn, went 8' on center, not 12'. Also I used a doubled 2x14 glue lam 40' long for the ridge, that way the building was clear span and I didn't put up collar ties. I used a regular plywood roof and shingles. I used one inch rough cut shiplap pine boards for vertical sheathing, came out nice.
