Tell him to do one if he's going to be like that with you because there are a couple of things here for why he might be doing Speak to him about these things you know give them him as options and tell him not to lie because you'll find out eventually. 1. seeing someone else. (Definetley get rid) 2. Worried about work or something. (Comfort him with this but don't let him take advantage) 3. He could have a problem with something you do or say and doesn't know how to speak to you in order for you to change it. (if this is to be then simply tell him that you are who you are and if you want to change what he's asked you to then by all means but if you don't want to change it then tell him no your not changing now begin to like it or lump it.
