With the hood open have someone rev the motor until the noise comes back, make sure you are clear of any moving part, listen for the noise and locate, is it a bearing (high pitch) could it be the belt tensioner? Use a long metal screw driver as a stethoscope hold to your ear and the metal part to any non moving parts or suspect parts. You will be surprised how many noises can be heard this way and you can usually find it
"The bus's engine stopped after the alternator belt snapped under the hood."The possessive noun is bus's (the engine of the bus).
Your engine might make a humming noise near the alternator after you shut it down because the fan is still running or because the fuel pump is shutting down. Another cause for the humming noise could be the AC motor turning off.
Sounds like the fuel pump is running May be a failed relay
Sounds like a wheel bearing.
it does that because it has a generator which makes the engine makes these sounds
Sounds like alternator is going bad even though it still may still hold a charge
Sounds like the engine mounts might be failing and no longer damping engine vibration.
A very good chance the fan ( alternator ) drive belt has broken Depending on what engine is in your vehicle, the water pump has probably stopped turning which will increase the temperature of the engine. Also the alternator will have stopped turning, illuminating the no charge warning light.
yes it has something to do with the alternator.. first you lose your lights, radio and all electrical items lUcky for me it was my bolts were loose it was only connected by one bolt..My mechaic tightened it and told me to go back and get my money back. I didn't need a new one.
sounds like the alternator belt is loose, check it out and let me know.
Easiest test is to use a voltmeter. Engine stopped , voltage about 12 volts Engine running, voltage about 14.7 volts.
