The throwout bearing is bad. This bearing sits in the center of the clutch. Replacing it requires removing the transmission from the car, and it would be a VERY good time to replace both the clutch and the pressure plate while you have it apart.

What is the difference between a hydraulic clutch and a cable clutch?

Cable clutch - when you depress the clutch lever or pedal, you pull at a Cable whose other end is attached to the fork that operates the pressure plate in the clutch assembly. Hydraulic clutch - when you depress the clutch lever or pedal, you push at a piston in a Master cylinder. Pushing at the piston pressurizes the hydraulic fluid in the master cylinder, and in the hose leading to a Slave cylinder placed at the clutch. The piston in the slave cylinder extends and operates the pressure plate in the clutch assembly.

The slave cylinder is a hydraulic device that acutuates the clutch. As you depress the clutch pedal it's movement sends hydraulic pressure to the clutch to release it. It's like stepping on the brakes only withe clutch.

1993 Mercury Capri cuts off when clutch is depressed?

Sounds as if the clutch start switch under the dash may be at fault. It shouldn't start without depressing the clutch in the first place, and if the switch goes bad it will cause a cut-out with the start system. You may want to check for other wires under the dash that may look frayed. Look in and around the entire clutch pedal...sometimes a vital wire for the ignition system can come loose from its harness and after rubbing against the clutch pedal (metal part) as you puch down on the pedal it is possible to short out the ignition system causing a dead zone every time you depress the clutch. Make sure you depress the clutch pedal as you are looking under the dash and go through the entire throw of the pedal...checking any and all wiring in the general area of operation.

What is a clutch brake used for on a tractor trailer truck?

When you depress the clutch pedal all the way down the clutch brake stops the input shaft from rotating. This allows the transmission to be put in gear. Never depress the clutch fully ( all the way to the floor) when the truck is moving in any gear. The clutch brake is about the size of a compact disc and cannot stop the input shaft when the truck is moving in gear. This will destroy the clutch brake.

How do you clutch bleeding 1990 ford ranger 2.3?

To bleed the clutch: -With the bleeder valve closed, depress the clutch pedal to the floor. -Slip your foot off the pedal and let it fly back to the top (DON'T be gentle). -Repeat several times (5 is a good number) -Depress the pedal to the floor, hold it there, and have a helper open the bleeder valve on the slave cylinder. -Allow the fluid to run out. -When the fluid stops flowing from the valve, shut the valve and release the pedal. Repeat as needed. -Be sure to keep the reservoir full, a third person to watch the reservoir is a very good asset to have.

How do you prime the clutch fluid?

Bleeding it will take two people. The way I do it is this:Gain access to the bleeder valve and crack the valve open. With the valve open have the person in the car depress the clutch pedal. When the pedal is all the way down close the bleeder, now the person can bring the clutch back up, it may have to be pulled up. Now pump the clutch pedal 5 times, and add fluid to the system. Repeat until the pedal is back to normal.http://adsmodito.com/ad-category/vehicles/
