Sounds as if the clutch start switch under the dash may be at fault. It shouldn't start without depressing the clutch in the first place, and if the switch goes bad it will cause a cut-out with the start system. You may want to check for other wires under the dash that may look frayed. Look in and around the entire clutch pedal...sometimes a vital wire for the ignition system can come loose from its harness and after rubbing against the clutch pedal (metal part) as you puch down on the pedal it is possible to short out the ignition system causing a dead zone every time you depress the clutch. Make sure you depress the clutch pedal as you are looking under the dash and go through the entire throw of the pedal...checking any and all wiring in the general area of operation.

To change the slave cylinder on your 1993 Mercury Capri, first ensure the vehicle is securely lifted and supported. Disconnect the hydraulic line from the old slave cylinder and remove any retaining bolts to take it out. Install the new slave cylinder by securing it with bolts, then reconnect the hydraulic line. Finally, bleed the clutch system to remove any air and ensure proper operation.
