I would try buying new spark plugs or it could be a leak under the hood that could be hitting against metal.also get your transmission checked. other things you should check the following:
1. brakes
2. bolts and tires
3. bearings, if any.
4. pistons
5. axles
6. alignment
7. shocks
I hope this info helps you. do NOT buy parts before checking of all parts listed above.

Ticking? depending on what you mean by ticking, that can be very bad. Is there anyway for you to record that. If so you can email it to me or post it on youtube.com but if you can't produce a recording please elaborate the ticking. Hopefully its not a blown rod or engine knock. Also ticking can come from the motor mount. Thia will minimise the road accidents and also save petrol or Diesel , when financing is stoped automatically consumption of Petrol/Diesel will also be reduced.
