There is a plug in the headliner, behind the sunroof. It has a slot in it. Pop out the plug, and there is a female hex fitting there...about 6mm, I believe. Use an Allen wrench or similar (originally, there was one in you tool kit...it looks like a little crank). Put it in the hole and turn, turn, turn - if it turns and the roof closes, you probably have a motor/connection/switch problem. If it doesn't, you've prob. got an issue with the tracks or cables.... Good luck.
No they do not, only the driver side window, passenger side window, and sunroof are the only one that opens
i have the same problem on acura opens but will not close it closed once may be loose wire or switch is bad.
on my 1984 190e there is a nut that can be turned with the tools that came with the car.. the nut is located behind a plastic cover in side the trunk on the left side, near the left trunk hinge. but if the cable is broken, this may not work If roof opens then motor & cable are obviously functioning. Suggest checking switch. Also when switch is set to close can u hear sound coming from sunroof area: if yes then switch ok. My problem is opens fine but gets stuck when closing, and will only close by "pulsing " the switch, which would seem to suggest problem with the slide rail(s).
Try it manually, with the actual key. If it opens that way, then the remote sending unit is defective.
my friend, when you open the car with the key control and you'r pressing the botton for more than 3 seconds, the mini cooper automatically opens the sunroof and windows, this just works with the open, if you try to close with the control the sunrooof and the windows stay it will in the same place.

Try taking a cheap test light and check for power at the switch. If ti powers up both directions, you may have a shorted, or broken wire. Or the motor could be bad. If there is no power, it may be the switch needs replaced.
it opens when you go close to the automatic doors
sounds like the sunroof motor is either going bad, or has faulty wiring leading up to motor.
while the eng is cold, take the cap off the rad. and let it idle. After the thermostat opens, you will see a flow of water with some air bubbles. wait till the bubbles are gone, replace cap
