The transmission
most likely its the tranny. could use a fluid and filter change or could be more serious.
check the neutral safety switch, could have a short in it.
Something is wrong in the 94 Taurus reverse light circuit. There is probably a short causing the battery voltage to drop when the car is in reverse.
Could be ignition module
Its possible that the lower gear ratio in reverse could be putting an increased load on your engine which an older truck may not always be able to handle, thus causing you to stall out. To answer it more accurately, I'd need to know exactly what you mean by "turning off"
If it turns over sluggishly - could be a bad starter If it turns over normally - fueld could be atomizing too early (Vapor lock)
jack up drive axle with vehicle in neutral and turn one tire. If the tire on opposite side turns the same direction as the one you did you have posi traction. If it turns the other direction its a diff.
The water pump would be a standard rotation. The serpentine belt moves clockwise on the model truck which would make it standard not reverse. With a serpentine belt system like the one in the 2000 S10 4.3, any pulley that is grooved turns clockwise. Any pulley that is smooth turns counterclockwise. The water pump pulley on that S10 is smooth and turns CCW.
An iron or steel with wire wound on it turns the drive shaft.
The engine turns the transmission then the transmission turns the driveshaft.
An iron or steel with wire wound on it turns the drive shaft.
possibly a problem with the torque converter locking up, or could be something as simple as a vacuum leak
