Anti virus software has nothing to do with your wireless router (unless one or more of the system files responsible for network communications was infected).
The only thing which can block network activity is firewall. Check your network and firewall settings.
first you have to have internet connection or it wont work
The primary thing that happens when you reset your router is that it does back to default settings. This means that the network and wireless settings will need to be reconfigured.
Check to make sure the router is connected to the internet. I had a problem like this once. Make sure you put in the correct wireless key. It will still say that it can connect to the router but you wont really be connected to it.
You need to make sure that your wireless adapter supports the security. Check if the network requires WPA2, if does and you cannot connect to it, it means your adapter can't work with and the router has to configured to work with first generation of WPA.
Blocking a computer at the router wont stop that computer from seeing networks. It will only stop you from connecting. If you cant see any networks, download netstumbler.
you will need the wireless converter and a router after that you wont even need to use your laptop
If you are running a modem that has an Ethernet port, plug the Ethernet port into the switch, along with all the computers. Actually you may want to get a "Router" for the extra "Hardware" Firewall and in case you get a wireless Printer, etc, make it a "wireless" Router. Most Wireless Routers come with a 4 port Lan also. They're coming out with Gigabit Routers (Lan ports) now so you won't lose your "local" Lan speed, IF you need it. (it wont make the internet faster) DSL/Cable modem------Router-------switch------computers, printers, etc. -------(wireless part of Router----wireless Printer, wireless computers, etc.)
Absolutely, Wireless internet is a great feature all you need is a wireless Wifi card in your laptop or desk top computer. It is extremely convenient for laptops as you wont have to plug into the router to get internet thus allowing you to be anywhere in the house and have a connection.
An internet connection from an ISP. And a router. A very popular router is the Linksys WRT54G. It takes all of 5 minutes to set-up and in a few months if your router breaks (not that they do, their usually reliable but hey), so when it goes down and you are back to a wire for a few hours you will feel so crippled you wont believe it.
because new viruses are CONSTANTLY being released. and if your Antivirus is using outdated virus signatures and the new virus comes in to your computer...the antivirus wont be able to see it and stop it and it will wreak havoc on your computer.
... maybe you are not doing it right.
So you wont get any viruses.
