It is not difficult to appreciate the magnificent buildings that the world's great architects have designed. Whether it is the art deco style Chrysler building in New York City or the Space Needle across the country in Seattle, Washington, these majestic buildings, as well as much more humble ones, all began as drawings by architects. What is truly remarkable is not only the finished products, but the process that designing them involves.
Architects do not simply sketch out a plan for a building on a napkin or a piece of scrap paper. Whether it is a single family home or a skyscraper, every building requires detailed blueprints and floor plans drawn to exactly specifications by an architect. While today architects use high tech design programs on their computers to generate their blueprints, they remain just as detailed and precise.
Architects use drawings to begin their designs, however they quickly progress to three dimensional models, built to scale, to demonstrate the full breadth of their vision. Architects, whether they work for a large architectural firm or for themselves, serve clients who must approve their designs before beginning detailed blueprints. Models, often built by specialized model makers, are used to provide the client with a visual example of what the finished product will look like. Often, building models are so detailed that they are surrounded with suggested landscaping such as miniature bushes, and their parking lots are filled with miniature cars. Building is extremely expensive and time consuming with no do overs, so it is essential that the client be satisfied with the building's design prior to the start of constructions.
When a building design is approved, the architect goes from general, sweeping drawings and models, to specific blueprints that specify every detail that the building will contain upon completion. Architects use a standard set of symbols so that builders know what is expected of them. Architects will include indications of not only where walls and windows are to be placed in the building, but also smaller details such as the toilet, sink, and shower in a home's master bathroom, and the width of doorways for an apartment building to be handicap accessible.

The design was started by the Perez Architects group, and later completed by the Fentress Bradburn Architects of Denver. The mayor at the time, Federico Pena was also instrumental in the design.
They did the came as modern day architects design and do the mathematics involved with building design.
Architects don't build they design their object on a blueprint and give it to the boss of the builders and then that gets converted to the final object.
Not all architects design buildings, some work in other aspects of the building construction such as project management. Some architects design furniture, but this is not usually covered in architectural training.
I would say technical architects...
