Overview

In the Society Islands of French Polynesia, you will find the volcanic island, Bora Bora. This island is located in the Pacific Ocean and is surrounded by a barrier reef and lagoon. Mount Pahia and Mount Otemanu, two extinct volcanoes, are located at the center of this island. This vacation place is for someone who wants to vacation in luxury as the island is filled with very high-class resorts. If you are on a tight budget, it will take some extensive planning to visit Bora Bora as it said that everything is either expensive or indescribably expensive. Bora Bora exists today to cater to tourists and the island has built seven very luxurious resorts to accommodate its visitors. Many of the resorts have bungalows that stand over the water by using stilts which allows for great views of the lagoons and mountains.

Arts and Entertainment

While visiting Bora Bora, you must partake in the various water activities that are provided. These activities include swimming, snorkeling and Scuba diving. The underwater life is very tropical and will include sightings of sharks and rays as well. The Bora Bora Lagoonarium will provide a certified diver who will serve as a tour guide as you visit the animals and plants that make the lagoonarium home. For those that are not comfortable diving, there is a submersible watercraft that will allow you to experience the lagoonarium as well. Above water activities to partake in include visiting the volcanic peaks which will provide for the best photo opportunities on the island.

Food and Drink

For those who want to self cater themselves, you can find a reasonable prices on food and drink at the medium sized grocery store in Vaitape. Black Pearls is said to be a specialty of Bora Bora. One of the most famous restaurants located on this island is Bloody Mary’s where they care more about speed of service over the quality. Other famous restaurants to visit are Bamboo House, which serves French Polynesian for a fair price, Bounty Snack, which serves Tahitian meals, Villa Mahana, which you would need to make a reservation for as they only have 5 tables, and Sunset Boulevard, where you eat on boats while listening to music and providing the best Sushi on the island.
