Aluminum fences aren’t new technology. They’re proven, time-tested barriers that keep your property solely yours, and in the condition it was in when you got it. They have many advantages that other fence erection methods lack and their low key ubiquitousness has only increased over the last century of their existence.

Chain linking is a process by which wires are bent into zig-zag shaped spirals, which are subsequently joined together. These sheeted lengths of fence material are then shaped into large rolls, ready to become a new fence. The fence posts themselves are simply hollow aluminum pipes which come thick enough to withstand a high amount of stress, and are generally manufactured with finishes to match the wire fence material.

An install begins with the posts, which are first checked for upright levelness and then cemented into holes dug into the earth. Once a line of posts has been arranged, the roll of chain link aluminum fence is laid out next to it, unrolled, and then affixed to a stretching clamp. This clamp enables a worker to pull the Fencing very tightly around the posts, while another worker fixes it at different spots using aluminum wires of a similar thickness to the fence’s. After the taut fence has been temporarily set on the posts, the install crew can go up and down the line, twisting wires to secure the chain link.

Once the fence has been stretched all the way around a property, gates are installed, usually on a simple swinging hinge, or sliding roller. You’ve probably seen the latter type on security aluminum fences that are used for regular access over long time periods, such as those commonly found at the entrances public parking lots.

Aluminum fences can include extra safety features such as barbed wire, bird guards or banner fixtures complete with logos, phone numbers and build site information. As temporary barriers go, fences with low-mobility posts are great, and a post cemented into an 18” deep hole in a parking lot is a rather immovable deterrent.
