Well Normandy was the collective name of all the beaches that were invaded. By far the worst was Omaha Beach which was attacked by the Americans
Not altogether certain about the Q but I think it's a fair bet you refer to Omaha, 'Bloody Omaha', it was well defended by the Germans on D Day & casualties were relatively heavy. Nonetheless the landing was a success, despite so many losing their lives.
Very strong and well dug in German guns. Most of these had not been seen in pre-invasion recce.
The Allies landed on five beaches in the French province of Normandy on D-Day. The Americans landed on the two largest: Omaha and Utah Beach. Utah Beach was a typical beach invasion that went well, with moderate (within expectation) casualties. Omaha Beach was a slaughterhouse, but with tenacity, it was held. Sword, Gold and Juno beaches were taken by the British and Canadians with only moderate resistance.
Well it was the 1st Infantry and 29th Infantry Divisions. I am out sure of the individual regiments at the time.
It was a very proud moment for all Americans and a historical moment for all mankind as well.
Omaha had the smallest advance, due mainly to losing almost all of their tanks when launched too early, and to an experienced, well armed 352 German Division guarding the beach.
Very heavy German machine gun and mortar fire..... as well and land mines and barbed wire....

They were only prepared on "Omaha" beach as most of the other beachs were easily captured by the allies- Juno, Gold, Utah and Sword were the other codenames of the beaches.
Well they did assault Juno beach and manage to penetrate further into France than any other landing force. Also Juno beach was the second most heavily defended beach. Candian minesweepers also cleared mines in the waters near the beach before the landing to help landers reach the beach and there were Canadian Paratroopers Dropped into France I'm pretty sure to help liberate objectives before the main forces arrived. I hope this help cuz I'm also doing something on this There were no Canadian paratroopers in Europe with the Americans Idiot
well the 3 foot landing
