A dislocation is a separation of two bones where they meet at a joint. (Joints are areas where two bones come together.) A dislocated bone is no longer in its normal position, which may result in damage to ligaments, nerves, and blood vessels.
Alternative NamesJoint dislocation
ConsiderationsIt may be hard to tell a dislocated bone from a broken bone. Both are emergency situations and require the same first aid treatment.
Most dislocations can be treated in a physician's office or in the emergency room. You may be given medicine to make you sleepy. Sometimes general anesthesia in the operating room is needed.
Most dislocations, if treated early, will not result in permanent injury.
Once a joint has been dislocated, it is more likely to happen again. Follow-up with an orthopedic surgeon is recommended after a dislocation.
CausesDislocations are usually caused by a sudden impact to the joint. This usually occurs following a blow, fall, or other trauma.
SymptomsA dislocated joint may be:
Nursemaid's elbow is a partial dislocation common in toddlers. The main symptom is refusal to use the arm. Nursemaid's elbow can be easily treated in a doctor's office.

A Fracture is a break and a dislocation is when a joint comes out its socket
a sessile dislocation has a burger's vector that does notlie in the primary slip plane of the crystal, so it is immobile.a glissile dislocation has a burger's vector that doeslie in the primary slip plane of the crystal and thus is able to move in that plane.
Because the jog can not impede the slip behaviors of edge dislocation.
dislocate means to disconnect
Manipulation describes the attempted reduction or restoration of a fracture or dislocation with application of manually applied force.
A dislocation happens when a bone is forced out of its joint.
A Frank-Read dislocation is a type of dislocation that forms when two dislocations with opposite line directions interact and create a new 'jogged' dislocation. This type of dislocation can contribute to the hardening of materials through dislocation tangles and obstacles in the crystal structure.
Hip joint dislocation
Human Dislocation was created in 1997.
>> Burger vector and dislocation line both not lie in single active slip plane in sessile dislocation.
Dislocation Blues was created on 2007-04-03.
Subluxation is a partial dislocation. A dislocation is a severe injury in which the articular surfaces of joint is no longer in contact & a subluxation is a partial or incomplete displacement of the joint surface.
sessile means attached at the base; fixed to one spot, not able to move about. >> Dislocation can not move through glide are known as `Sessile dislocation' . for example; `Frank partial dislocation' can not move through glide as known as sessile dislocation. >> It is an immobile dislocation. >> Movement is possible only by climb process.

If a dislocation is not treated, it will continue to cause pain, be dysfunctional and can "freeze" in place.
Immediately after the dislocation, the application of ice is helpful to control swelling and decrease pain
