Peter Pan is a character who has captured the imaginations of both children and adults for many years. This boy who never wants to grow up strikes a chord with many people who long to return to their childhoods or never want to leave it. In the marvelous play world of Neverland, Peter is free to do as he pleases, threatened only by Captain Hook and his fellow pirates. Dressing up as Peter Pan for Halloween is a way of pretending to live that carefree lifestyle, even if it's just for a few hours.
To dress like Peter Pan, you can search any costume shop. Even if they don't have a Peter Pan costume, if you get a Robin Hood costume, the two usually look pretty similar. However, you can also make a Peter Pan costume of your own. The key color to remember is green. Peter lives on a lush island, and his clothing reflects that, allowing him to blend easily into his surroundings when he is hiding from his enemies. A Peter Pan costume typically includes green tights and a simple green outfit with either pants of a type of skirt and a green tunic. It should have a rough look to it, appearing as though it was handmade by someone with limited materials on hand.
Beyond the outfit, Peter Pan often wears a small green felt cap with a feather sticking out of it. That is the only accessory he regularly has, unless you count his shadow, which you should be able to cast yourself if there's a bit of sun. If it's dark out, nobody will be able to see the difference anyway. You could also carry a flashlight and blink it periodically, pretending that it's the fairy Tinkerbell. This would be especially effective if you also carried a bell that you jingled whenever you turned the flashlight on.
Peter Pan is beloved by many because he represents the desire to retain childlike innocence and play throughout one's days. Whatever age you are, you can feel footloose and fancy-free in a Peter Pan costume, and those around you might just find their spirits lifted as well.
The best costume for a party host would be a costume that lets them get a little bit wild. That means a costume that shows a side of them that they aren't normally able to show.
