Dance lessons are not just for little girls. There is no reason why little boys cannot participate. Think about all the TV commercials that show young teens dancing. Those kids had to learn the steps and some probably learned them in a dance class. There is nothing wrong with sending your little boy to dance lessons. He may love it.

Dance lessons include such things as Tap, Ballet, Jazz, Modern Dance and Acrobatics. Tap is a form of dance where the dancers wear special shoes, called tap shoes. They have a small medal disk on the heel and the toe of the shoes. When a tap dancer taps his or her foot on the floor you will hear a tap noise. Tap dancing lessons are always popular because little kids love to make noise and they especially love the noise of the taps. Tap dance lessons would be a good one to begin with for your son.

Another type of dance lessons that boys are willing to sign up for is Acrobatics. That is more of a tumbling class. The participants learn to tumble probably and they also do cartwheels, back bends and other acrobatic moves as they progress through the different levels. The young men you see doing gymnastics in the Olympics have taken Acrobatic dance lessons. It helps them to be more flexible in their routines.

If you have ever been to a professional ballet, you know that there are men who participate. Those men were not born able to do dance in a ballet; they took ballet dance lessons to learn. This type of dance isn’t for every little boy. But if you think your son would like it, sign him up.

Dance lessons are not just for girls. Dance lessons teach coordination and flexibility. Students must learn and memorize their dance steps. There is usually some type of recital at the end of the season which involves costumes and performing before family and friends.

Check out the dance studios in your town. Find out the ages and the rates. Take your children with you and let them watch a class. If they show immediate interest, sign them up.
