Finding A Summer Day Camp
As schools begin to let out and the sun slowly creeps through the dewy spring morning, more parents are looking for summer camps to occupy their children while they're at work. Unfortunately, summer day camps fill up fast and can sometimes be difficult to find. This summer, try using some of these tips to help you find a day camp that you're kids will love.
Search Online
Online search engines are a great tool to use when looking for a summer program to enroll your children in. Just try googling the type of program you'd like your child to participate in and see what comes up. There are also several sites like kidscamps.com and daycamps.com specifically designed to help you find a great camp for your child.
Go to the Community Center
Chances are your local community or recreation center is hosting a summer program or athletic camp for children. Kids can play sports, do Arts and Crafts and even go on field trips Since these programs are funded by your community, they may be inexpensive or free. So hurry and get your children registered so they won't miss out.
Check Out Your Church
Some churches and parishes have annual Vacation Bible School programs or sponsored summer camps. If your church is having a program, this may be a good option because they already know your children. You might even receive a discount for being a member.
Learning is Always In
Almost every school district offers summer school. If your child's school allows any student to participate in summer school, encourage your child to go take a course in something they haven't learned before, like foreign language or pottery. If your child is older, he or she may be eligible to take classes at the local community college.
Get a Job
If you have a teenager, take them to get a work permit and help them find a job. Most restaurants will hire teenagers to help them gain work experience. If your teen can't find employment, encourage them to find a volunteer opportunity, like as a candy striper at the hospital.
You can find the best christian summer camp through your church. Typically there is either a day camp, where kids will go each day, or one where kids will go for a certain period of time and actually stay at the camp over night.
