According to the CDC, Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. In 2007, heart disease claimed the lives of 616,067 people. While these statistics may be startling, there are things adults can do to improve their heart health.

To take a stand against heart disease, sufferers must make an effort to lower their blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Patients that lower their cholesterol and blood pressure are less likely to suffer a heart attack, require surgery, or die from their condition.
