There is something magical about taking to the skies and seeing the world from up high. More and more people want to get closer to the action and many are not contented with being merely a passenger, so this is why more people are getting in the cockpit and taking up flying lessons. This of course requires a certain element of bravery and a head for heights. If you’ve decided to take the plunge and want to start to learn how to fly, you may want to consider the following when booking your lessons:
• First do an internet search on what local flying schools there are in your area. You may have to travel a distance in order to get to the closest one. But, it will be well worth it once you take to the skies.
• Occasionally there will be special promotions that your local flying clubs or schools run in magazines, newsletters and so forth. So keep your eyes peeled to see if you can save some money on your lessons.
• Contact a professional flying club organization in your country. They will be able to put you into contact with reputable flying schools.
• When you do manage to find a local flying school, ask about what kinds of lessons they offer and what they recommend to a novice flyer. Usually many schools will offer micro-lite lessons as a build up to learning in aircrafts.
• Ask if any buddies want to come along with you, as you may be able to get a special rate from the school if more than one person comes to study.
Flying can be a great deal of fun, but before embarking on a course you should read up on the risks associated with learning to fly and as morbid as it sounds you should still ask the school about their accident rates, and how regularly they perform maintenance checks on their aircrafts. This will set your mind at ease, and leave your to concentrate on your flying!
