How to Install Audio Subwoofers?

Many vehicles unfortunately do not come with audio subwoofers. However, you may wish to have them in your ride so you can experience the kind of booming sound from your car�s audio system you want.

Installing subwoofers can also be quite complicated and technical. You can make this job a lot easier by purchasing your subwoofers in an already assembled enclosure box. To install these kinds of subwoofers inside an enclosure box, simply follow the instructions below.

First, you will need to modify the hook-ups for your car�s audio system�s four channel amplifier. What you will want to do is to modify the amplifier so the speakers already installed in the front and the rear of the vehicle are implementing the amplifier�s two front channels. To adjust these speakers, you will be able to use the high pass crossover of the amplifier�s front channels.

The next step is bridging the amplifier�s rear channels to mono sound. This is done to make sure that the amplifier is supplying double the power. This may seem complicated. However, your amplifier likely came with instructions. Use them to help you make this adjustment.

After you have finished that step, you need to wire both subwoofers. You should use 12 gauge wire for speakers to connect the amplifier to the subwoofers. However, first, you should again check your amplifier�s instructions. You may be told to connect them in a different way. The crossover of the amplifier�s rear channel should be low-pass.

Next, you will need to perform some tests. Test to see what crossover point works best with the subwoofers. Once you have found it, use this crossover point.

Once you have done all of this, you will need to make sure your subwoofers are properly secured in your trunk. There are a number of different ways to do this. However, one of the best options is to use L-brackets. The L-brackets will be made of metal and will be able to secure the subwoofer enclosure very securely.

Use your L-brackets to secure the enclosure to the floor. If not the floor, you can also use the rear deck or even a wall. Once you have fastened the enclosure, you will need to apply silicone around the L-brackets. This is done to make sure that no air leaks out of the enclosure. You, however, may have to skip fastening the enclosure with L-brackets if a spare tire is inside your trunk.
