How to Recon Solar Lights with Colored Jars

Crafts don't have to be super time-consuming or expensive. Some Arts and Crafts, like the recon solar lights with colored jars, can be made quickly at home for practically no money.

Things You'll Need

You'll need solar outdoor lights, jars, food coloring, a spoon, wire, needle nose pliars, outdoor Modgepop, bowls and paper towels - most of these items will probably be lying around your home or garage.

Colors

Find food coloring in the different colors you'll want, or combine colors to make variations. For example, blend blue with red to make purple. Alternatively, you can use acrylic paint instead of food coloring, but food coloring may work better and disperse more evenly through the Modgepodge.

Lighting

Adding the solar light to the jar is a cinch. Make sure to use a cheap outdoor solar light - the top of it (the part with the light) is going to be twisted off and placed over the jar. You can toss the rest of the light - this is why you bought cheap ones in the first place!

Hangers

If you want to hang the jar, first loop some wire around the top of the jar and then loop wire in an arc above the jar, laced through the wire that's around the neck of the jar.

Uses Use these gorgeously-colored jars for decorating several different areas of your house. They'll look great hanging outside on your porch during the summer. Create orange jars to display eery flames during Halloween. Place several brightly colored jars down the center of a long table to create a colorful runner when throwing a dinner party or birthday party.
