LCD television is a relatively new technology. Not everyone may be familiar with how to make repairs to minor issues that may appear over the lifetime of an LCD television. Unfortunately, hiring a repairman to fix problems with a LCD television can be very expensive. Here are some easy to follow instructions to fix one of the most common LCD television problems.

Sometimes a pixel on a LCD television screen may stop working. Unfortunately, a person can not fix a pixel that is truly broken. However, many times the pixel is simply stuck. First, you will need to determine whether or not the pixel is truly dead or simply stuck. Turn on your television. If the pixel appears blackened out, it is dead. If it is white or some other color, it is stuck and can be repaired.

The first method you should attempt is implementing LCD pixel repair software. JScreenFix is a popular program used for this very purpose. You can operate this software on your screen by connecting your TV to a computer running the software. You should always try a method such as software or even invoking your television’s warranty protections before you try any physical attempts at fixing a problem such as this yourself. There is always a risk you could make the problem worse.

If you have exhausted all other options, one method you can use is applying pressure. First, retrieve a washcloth. Run some water over the cloth until it is damp but not soaking wet. Now you need to get a pointy object. This object could be a pen, a screw driver, or anything else that is thin, hard, and pointy. Now, fold the damp washcloth in half.

While your television is turned off, apply a decent amount of pressure to the stuck pixel by pushing the wash cloth into the screen with the pointy object. Be very careful to not let the pointy object slide around while you do this. You could damage surrounding pixels.

While the pressure is still being applied to the pixel, reach over and turn back on the television. If you can’t reach over that far, have a friend or family member do it for you. Once the screen comes back on, remove the pointy object and the cloth. The stuck pixel should now be unstuck and working properly again.

How do you repair a screen with dead pixel's?

Only Stuck Pixels Can Be FixedNo, dead pixels remain unlit on lcd screens, and they cannot be fixed; however if you have a stuck pixel, sometimes they can be fixed. A stuck pixel results from a manufacturing defect, which leaves one of the pixel's colors turned on for an indefinite amount of time. Stuck pixels can be fixed, here's a link: http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Stuck-Pixel-on-an-LCD-MonitorJust Replace the ScreenNormally, "dead pixels" are not repairable. A good cost-effective solution is to replace the screen yourself (it is easy even if you are not a technical person - look at some on-line guide). Some websites distribute brand new LCD panels with affordable prices. You should easily find your model number and order a new screen (it is normally within $50-150 depending on model)
