A head scarf can either look really old-fashioned or very chic, depending on how you tie it. Maybe you want to cover a bad hair day, maybe you want to try a new look, or maybe you are suffering from hair loss. Either way, learning to tie the headscarf right will make the difference between chic and granny.
-Step 1: Classic fold
Take large scarf and fold it in half diagonally, to form a triangle. If it is a really big scarf, fold it in half again. Place the straight edge on your forehead and tuck the other ends underneath your hair at the back, and tie them in place. You can allow some bangs to show under the front if you have any.
-Step 2: Crown Fold
This one is chic and fashionable, with a nice crown around the forehead. Lay the edge of the scarf across your forehead, but so one side is much longer than the other. Drape the ends behind your head and take each corner in your hands, cross them over behind the neck. Start twisting the longer end until it forms a rope, then bring it around the front over the forehead and to the shorter end, tie it in a nice big knot. You can choose to leave the ends loose or tuck them in.
-Step 3: The winter fold
This should keep you warm and dry in any weather. Fold the square scarf in half, to make a triangle, and place the edge along your forehead. Bring the ends down under the chin, cross the ends, bring them around the back of the neck and tie. Voila!
-Step 4: The Braid
Again begin with a triangular fold. Bring both corners around to one side of your head, tie in a knot and twist them together or braid them together until taut. Then, twist the ends around the knot and tuck in to secure. This one can look very pretty if you are going out.
Using these simple techniques, you can look stylish and classy whatever the weather or whatever your reason for wearing a scarf.
I just drape it around or wear it backwards with a foot or so hanging down across the bust.
Rather than tie the scarf, a scarf slide is used or the scarf is pinned.
Put your hair in a bun or pony tail on the top of your head and tie the scarf around your head with a knot in the backlike this.
