Since the 1960’s live music has been a major part of the entertainment industry. As musical acts have got bigger, so in turn, have music venues and their stages. Over the past 3 decades there has been a rise in the need for different types of music venues, stages & seating as more and more artists take to the road to support their music.

An ever popular choice of venue for well established musical artists who at the height of their fame is the sports stadium. Sports stadiums can hold on average around 70,000 people which is ideal for performers who are at the top of their game and often sell out these kinds of venues. Because of the 360 degree seating a majority of the artists will perform on a stage that can be seen from all sides, sometimes even rotating the stage so that during the performance they face every part of the stadium. The seating in these venues is fixed molded plastic that folds back when the spectator is standing. Usually the only standing room in a sports stadium is in the floor area at the front of the stage universally known as the mosh pit.

Other venues for musical artists include theaters, bars and even natural amphitheaters. Theater venues will often have larger seats than a sports stadium but will hold less people, usually between 2,000 and 5,000 capacity crowds. These are popular venues for up and coming bands or established superstars that would like to do an intimate gig. The stage in a venue like this is already built and ready for live use so that all the band have to do is set up and perform.

Perhaps one of the biggest choice of venues in recent years is the natural amphitheater. An outdoors venue with a purpose built stage, these music venues can hold up to 90,000 people in some cases. Seating at these venues is often straight on the ground in the lush grass so music fans usually bring their own chairs or blankets to sit on.
