Roasting your favorite food items has never been easier, thanks to rotisseries. You can now have perfectly-roasted dishes from the comfort of your own home, with minor hassle and less expenses. Aside from having delectable food, cooking in a rotisserie would ensure that you eat healthy food items, as the oil drips from the ingredients as they are slowly turned in the rotisserie. When you have this kitchen gadget, you should take the time to get to know how to properly operate it so you get the most out of the rotisserie.
Step 1: Using the rotisserie spit stick; pierce the food item that you are planning on roasting. Place the food to the center of the spit, and then move it to the middle part of the rotisserie oven. Make sure that you check the size of your rotisserie first before buying the meat that you plan on cooking – the size of the meat should be fully dependent on the size of the rotisserie.
Step 2: Make sure that the drip pan is in place underneath the rotisserie, to catch the juices and any drippings that might come out of the meat while it is cooking.
Step 3: Regularly check on the food that is being cooked inside the rotisserie. The cooking time may vary, and in reality may be faster, as the rotating mechanism ensures that faster cooking is achieved. You can check on the food after about 45 minutes; if the meat needs to be re-positioned, do this and then check on it again after another 20 minutes.
Step 4: To make sure that the meat is already cooked inside, puncture a small hole deep into the meat. If the juices run clear, the meat is already properly cooked through. However, if the juice is still a bit red or bloody, you still need to cook it for a few more minutes.
Step 5: Protect your hands when removing the food from the rotisserie. It is best to wear oven mittens or a dry rag when reaching for the food item, as all parts of the rotisserie are most likely still extremely hot.
Step 6: After cooking, remove all the detachable parts of the rotisserie and soak them in water with detergent for a couple of minutes. Don’t forget to wipe the inside of the rotisserie as well, as there may be some drippings or meat juice that splattered on the walls and other surfaces.
Step 7: Make sure that the oven is unplugged and that all the knobs are turned to their starting positions before storing it for the next use.
