I would not say a public school is the best place for a serious cook. Government guidlines severely restrict what you can prepare, budgets will determine what you are allowed to spend and kids are picky eaters. You will not gain much knowledge since you will cook the same things nearly every week.

It depends on a) their personality and b) how good they are.
