Jones International University is an institution of higher learning that was founded in 1987 by Glenn R. Jones. Jones International University is famous for being the first completely virtual university in the world.

When it was founded, the school started as the Mind Extension University. In reality, this university was actually a cable network. While the school existed as the Mind Extension University, the cable network allowed students across the world to watch television instead of attending classes. Thirty degree programs were offered this way from thirty different universities.

Eventually, a much more consumer friendly version of the internet emerged in the 1990’s, and Glenn R. Jones realized the potential this presented for higher learning. His school of cable broadcasted courses was transitioned into the first completely online university to offer courses to students anywhere in the world.

The school completed this transition into the completely online Jones International University in 1999. At that time, the school also received accreditation for its degree programs from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. This commission oversees the accreditation of universities in nineteen states in the mid-west and south-west United States.

The university began by teaching only one subject, but it has since expanded to include sixty different degree programs. Jones International University is divided into two separate colleges. These include the School of Business and the School of Education. The university offers Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate’s degrees in a number of different fields including accounting, business administration, education, finance, and health care management.

The school is headquartered in Centennial, Colorado and offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Students are mainly professionals looking to further their career opportunities. School of Business

The School of Business offers Business Administration Certificate programs, accelerated Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in 13 different Business Specializations, Bachelor’s degree in Business Communication Specialization, Master’s degree in Business Administration Specializations, Master’s degree in Business Administration, and a Doctorate degree in Business Administration Specializations. The accelerated programs allow full-time students to earn their bachelor’s degree in three years and four months and then complete a master’s degree in the next eight months, for a total of four years.
