The educational requirement is a degree in landscape architecture, which may be a two or four year program. A landscape architect is in charge of selecting the right type of plants and trees for a specific terrain and climate. Additionally, the landscape design process involves planning lighting and other decorative features such as fountains, Swimming Pools, statues and rocks. A landscape architect spends most of his or her work on a computer in an office environment. However, this job often requires the architect to be outside to oversee the installation and shaping of a landscape project.
