Many costumes worn around Halloween are scary, while others are cute. One costume that combines both ideas, depending on your position, is the bee. Some people find bees to be very cute and associate them with honey, while others are terrified of them because of their stingers, especially if Allergies are an issue. By dressing up like a bee, you can repel some and charm others, so you will get the range of Halloween reactions to your costume.

To make a bee costume, you might start with a black sweatsuit. Find some yellow material and sew strips of yellow material onto the pants and shirt so that it looks like they are black with yellow stripes. Just this much will probably give people the idea. However, if you really want to drive the point home, make a pair of wings using blue posterboard or some other material. Attach them to the back of the costume, preferably with some sort of harness, as this will be easy to remove.

Once you have all this in place, you can worry about the antennae. Bees have antennae on their heads to help them find pollen, and you can make it look like you have them too by finding a simple black hairband, a couple of pipe cleaners and a couple of craft cotton balls. Use hot glue to turn those materials into a fitting head-topped. Then, if you feel so inspired, you can put a stinger on your rear end by making a sharp cone out of cardboard. However, this isn't really necessary, and since you might hurt people if they get too close to you, it might be better if you decided to skip the stinger.

Bees are known for making honey, so you might allude to that with the bag that you take trick-or-treating, writing "Honey" on the front or using a honey pot as a treat container. Of course, how many accessories you want to incorporate is entirely up to you. Whatever you decide, if you dress as a bee for Halloween, you are certain to get the attention of those who love these tiny, buzzing creatures, as well as some who'd rather keep their distance.
