General Overview

Moline, located in northern Illinois is part of the Quad Cities. Only 165 miles from Chicago, you will find Moline sitting on a bluff next to the Mississippi River. Historically speaking, Moline has a rich background in Indian tribes who established their villages along the river. After the Indians moved on, settlers moved into the area and brought with them the beginnings of businesses that made Moline what it is today. The main business that was brought to Moline was John Deere, which grew in operations in the agricultural world. Today, most of John Deere has been moved out of Moline but that hasn’t stopped the city from trying to encourage growth of their city and riverfront. With the building of the i wireless Center in the nineties, many events have been brought to Moline to encourage tourism once again.

Arts and Entertainment

There are many family-friendly activities and events that you can enjoy on a trip to Moline. If it is outdoor fun you are looking for, Moline has 18 different parks that are run by the park district. You can enjoy a family day of swimming at the Riverside Family Aquatic Center or have fun at the baseball and tennis complex. Take a trip on the Celebration Belle, a non-gaming riverboat that is sure to delight the whole family. If it is sports you are into, catch a Quad City River Bandits baseball game, a A League team of the St. Louis Cardinals. Take the whole family to see a play at the Playcrafters Barn Theatre, a night everyone is sure to enjoy. Built in the nineties, the i wireless Center brings in a variety of various acts a year. You can take your teenager to see a Justin Bieber concert, go on a date to see Brad Paisley, or take the whole family to see Star Wars in Concert.

Food and Drink

For a different type of dining experience, take a dinner cruise on the Celebration Belle Riverboat. You can cruise for lunch or dinner. If you are downtown Moline, be sure to visit Bent River Brewing Co. Enjoy live music while having your meal. Be sure to enjoy one of their many handcrafted ales as well. The River House Bar and Grill, located on River Drive, serves up party platters for you and your family to enjoy. If it is finer dining you want, stop at Bass Street Chop House for steaks and seafood. Whatever your taste in food is, Moline is sure to have it.
