When you buy a new or used car you probably notice the little sticker in the top corner of your windshield. This sticker tells you when an oil change is due. Until recently it was highly recommended to change oil every 3,000 miles or every three months. With the improvements of cars over the years, oil change recommendations have generally been pushed to about every 5,000 miles. Whatever the case may be for your car, changing oil is essential to keeping your car on good condition.

The first step toward determining if you need an oil change is to check the oil in your car. This is a simple process that anyone can do regardless of their car knowledge. When checking oil you must park on a flat surface and pop the hood of the car. Pull out the oil dipstick and wipe it clean before reinserting it. When you pull it out again you will get a clear picture of the oil status in your car. The oil level should fall somewhere between the two notches on the dipstick. If it is getting too low it is probably time to change the oil. You also need to pay attention to the color. Oil should be a healthy brown in color. Black is okay too but it indicates that your oil is getting dirty. If the oil is milky in color it is time to schedule an oil change.

Oil changes are relatively cheap if you can't do them yourself. Most businesses also include fluid fills, car cleaning, and other bonuses when you get an oil change. Changing your oil will do wonders for the health of your car. Regular oil changes will improve your gas mileage. If your oil is in more condition it could mean major trouble for your engine. Oil is the lifeblood of your car and the only thing that helps your engine avoid wear and tear. Failing to change oil regularly could lead to your engine seizing. That translates to a lot of money if you want to save your car.

The oil type your car needs should be clearly marked in your owner's manual. Follow the guidelines if you change your own oil. If you take your car to a shop for an oil change, ask them if using synthetic oil will help your car. Lastly, keep a quart of oil in your trunk for emergency situations.

Change battery in the key for Mercedes Benz c230 kompressor?

first you take out the mechanical backup key. just push the small slider on top of the key and pull out the key. inside, just below the top, a small ridge should be visible. on my key (black) there is a white clip. you have to push it in (with a small screwdriver) and pull out the key top. first time it's kinda tricky, was for me at least. when you pull it out, there should be two 3V batteries inside. !!! WATCH THE POLARITY !!! change them, fit the slider back in until it clips, and take care with the sliders bottom part (the one that fits into the casing). fit the valet back in, and you're ready to go :) PS: some kind of safety sometimes wont let you open the car by remote after the battery change. you just have to pull out the batteries inside the car, and you'll have no problem. even if you change it at home, and it wont open the car, just pull the batteries out and refit them again.

Why will car not unlock with remote key?

There's a signal transmitter inside the key which needs power. Change the battery.
