For anyone who might be looking for a maintenance free fence, there are prefabricated plastic fencing parts and sections that will outlast any wood fence. Certain manufacturers refer to these as PVC, and others refer to it as vinyl fencing, however the materials are basically the same, and all offer the same weather resistant qualities.

There are numerous web sites where one can browse the styles and types that are available, and some plastic fences are standard items at home centers. The type of fence that is best will depend on the situation, as well as personal preference. A typical garden fence, with pointed pickets can be purchased in prefabricated sections. Again, this fencing has a solid lumber core for added durability. PVC fences can be installed with three rails, or more if desired, and they are typically 4’ high when finished. The 4” posts are set in concrete, and can extend above ground as much as 5’ in some situations. Where taller livestock fencing is needed, there are several manufacturers that offer custom order posts an rails.

Plastic fencing, fence posts and gates do not need painting or finishing of any kind. They can be cleaned with soap and water, or rinsed to remove dust and other debris. The plastic will not deteriorate over time, they are considered a lifetime fence.
