FOLWER or FOWLR is a kind of saltwater aquarium setup that doesn't have corals. It stands for Fish Only With Live Rock.
It depends on the size of the tank. Ideally most people get 5 gallon buckets of reef salt for ideal tanks.
A gerbilarium is an aquarium filled with peat halfway up and chopped straw on top. It is setup so that the gerbils can burrow.
right around 400#.... water is about 8# per gallon.
First you get a tank. Then you add washed gravel to the tank and add any decorations. Put in the filter and heater (if you want a tropical aquarium. if not then just the filter) then put the water in. Add water purifier to the water and wait 2 weeks before getting your fish
Distill the saltwater. Place it into a disposable water bottle. Put a small hole in the cap with a nail and jam the end of a small piece of tubing into it (aquarium airline tubing works nicely.) Allow the other end of the tube to sit in another bottle. Place the setup in a warm area, perhaps in a window or on top of a clothes dryer. Eventually you should see a small volume of water appear in the second bottle, which is perfectly pure. More complicated and efficient setups can be created with laboratory glassware and burners, but I get the feeling that you may not have access to that equipment for your project.
There are a variety of fish that can keep a tank clean. The type of fish will depend on the type of aquarium setup. In a freshwater tank, different types of plecostomus are most common.
