One of the most impressive features of the Nikon D90 camera is the amount of thought and technology involved in the autofocus system. Unlike many other cameras, in addition to advanced autofocus, the D90 camera also includes something known as scene recognition. This software inside of the camera actually isolates elements within a scene before a picture is taken and adjusts the focus of the lens in order to capture as much detail as possible. It is an often overlooked feature of the Nikon D90 camera.
Yes but older AF lenses that do not have an autofocus motor in them will not autofocus with the D5000.
In my view, the nikon d40 is not really good one. The most obvious shortcoming of the Nikon D40 camera, is the absence of an autofocus driver in the camera body. What this means, is that if autofocus is important to the way you take pictures, they you are somewhat limited in the number of lenses you can use with the D40. Only about ten percent of the available lenses for the Nikon D40 have autofocus drives built into the lenses. Needless to say, those lenses are considerably more expensive than lenses without autofocus. In addition, most SLR's in this price range, allow you to take pictures in the RAW format, and the D40 is no exception. What is a bit surprising, is that when you take pictures with the RAW and JPEG format at the same time, the D40 only uses a very basic JPEG format. For a camera in this price range I would have expected better. You can have a see. http://www.dinodirect.com/
The Nikon D90 just recently was introduced. It is the first DSLR camera that also has a video camera feature. Overall, it is also a decent camera. -BookShark
It really depends on the camera, like on a Nikon it stands for Short Back Focus
Yes. Nikon cameras have the distinct advantage over other cameras because they are backwards compatible with any Nikon lens. In short, any Nikon camera can mount any Nikon lens. The problem is how much of the lens capabilities are retained when used on a different camera. Depending on the lens' mounting system and the Nikon camera, the lens may or may not be able to autofocus or meter. Also, if you use an FX lens (from a film or D3/D700 camera) on a DX (digital DSLR) camera, the focal lengths will be different than on the film camera. More specifically, it will be 1.5 times the focal length of the film camera. (more zoomed in)
The Nikon F-401 (N4004 in North America) was an Autofocus, 35mm, Single-lens_reflex(SLR) Film_camerabuilt by Nikonand introduced in 1987. The camera represented one of Nikon's first endeavours into consumer-based autofocus, as a follow-up to their first autofocus SLR in 1986, the Nikon_F-501(known as the N2020 in North America). The camera lacked many of the advanced features that more seasoned amateurs and professionals required, but it was a harbinger of the future as it included a pronounced, built-in grip as well as an integrated Through-the-lens_meteringthat is now commonplace on all but the most high-end SLR cameras.By the 1990s, the F-401 was part of a lineup of autofocus consumer SLRs that included the more expensive Nikon_F-601and Nikon_F-801.Looks like these days it goes for a bit under $100 on E-Bay.
