LEGO Ninjago is a line of toy playsets that are currently being produced by Lego. A previous Ninja series was produced by Lego, of which Ninjago uses some elements. These include the removal of the Bandits and the Shogun. The Serpentine, Stone Army and the Skeleton Army have also been introduced. Vehicles have been included, suggesting a more modern era than the Ninja Lego's previous setting in feudal Japan. Theme The theme of the playsets and toys is based on the world of Ninjago. It is the home of both ancient and modern villages alike. The First Master of Spinjitzu created Ninjago by using the Four Golden Weapons: the Shurikens of Ice, the Scythe of Quakes (earth), the Nunchucks of Lightning and the Sword of Fire. The large amount of power contained by these weapons prevented any one person from holding them at once. The master's eldest son is named Garmadon. Consumed by evil, Garmadon wanted to possess all four of the weapons for himself. Wu, his younger brother, discovered his plan and engaged him in a fight. The result of their fight was the older brother being banished to the Underworld. Even though he has been banished, that has not stopped Garmadon from sending his minions to try to steal the Four Weapons. He has also made numerous attempts to escape his prison. Adaptations Along with the 17 playsets that make up the original line of Lego Ninjago toys, there was also a board game that was produced in the United Kingdom. It contained many of the Ninjago elements from the line of toys. Lego Battles: Ninjago is a video game that was released in April of 2011 for the Nintendo TS. The game serves as a sequel to the successful 2009 game titled Lego Battles. There have also been three iPhone and iPad apps that have been released. TV series Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu can currently be seen on the Cartoon Network in the United States. The series contains the same storyline and characters as the line of toys. However, there are several new characters that were created for the show. There is also a feature film in development that will be directed by Charlie Bean.
