During the warm summer months, one of the best ways to spend your time is to be outside enjoying the warm weather. While it can be a lot of fun to be outside, one of the biggest nuisances of summer is having to deal with bugs, which can leave you with an itchy bug bite. While bug bites can be unappealing and very uncomfortable, there are several things that you can do to treat the bug bites and reduce the amount of time that you will have to deal with the itching wound.

The first thing that you can do to treat a bug bite is to treat the bite immediately. If you feel that you have been bitten, you should try and treat it as soon as possible. If you are able to apply rubbing alcohol to the area of your skin that was bitten, you could end up killing the poison in the bite immediately. This could actually stop the bite from swelling at all, and you may not end up experience a bump, red mark, or any itching.

If you are not able to stop the bug bite at the moment that it occurs, the next best thing to do would be to continue to apply a cold compress to the bite. A cold compress can provide a number of different benefits. First, it can be quite soothing, which is beneficial considering it will not require you to scratch or disrupt the bite. Second, having a cold compress on the bite will help to prevent swelling and may speed up the total recovery process.

Another way to treat a bug bite would be to keep it clean. One of the main reasons that a bug bite will itch and not heal is that it is full of bacteria. While most people may naturally think that it would be better to only apply medicine to the area, keeping the bite wound clean could be the most effective way to treat the bite. By gently washing the infected area, you will clean away all of the bacteria, which will stop the wound from spreading and could speed up the recovery process.
