If there has ever been a Halloween costume that has somehow gotten past all of the censors with a hearty thumbs up from everybody else, it is the nurse costume. The nurse costume, perhaps more than any other Halloween costume, toes the line between acceptable and fantasy more than any other Halloween costume in modern times. The men who are lucky enough to see the beautiful woman in a nurse costume is left to wonder, "Does she know what she is doing to everyone who sees her?" And that, friends, is part of the charm. Usually, the nurse is a comforting welcoming presence which is far from the scary, monstrous presences which you would normally associate with Halloween. But the nurse costume represents to some a much darker echelon - the taboo fields of excitement and sensuality, which may as well be just dark as the dark alley in the Horror movie with the chainsaw killer at the end of the block. Halloween is not only about being frightfully scary in a literal sense; the holiday was started in order that people could get out all of their inner demons. The nurse costume may represent to women the ability to finally express their repressed feelings of self expression - to show who they were underneath their more professional veneer. Halloween is the time to do it without getting in trouble or drawing the ire of those who might present themselves as judges or arbiters of what is acceptable and right in the public eye. Halloween and the nurse costume go hand in hand for what they represent and what they allow people to do. Better to do it on Halloween and not draw judgment than to hold it in and let it implode on you! And to those who draw from their darkest pleasures when seeing a nurse costume, please also draw upon your sense of reality - this is just a holiday! Keep the catcalls to a minimum!
