For a wireless router to work does the computer with ist have to be on is the other computer to get the wireless signal from that computer?

If you do have a wireless router on, you don't need any other computer to be on, say if you have a laptop downstairs, and a computer with the router upstairs, the computer can be off, but the router has to stay on, and you can access the internet using the laptop from downstairs, if you have a good enough signal. Hope this helps!

How do you set up a wired router for ps3?

I went on-line and purchased a 50 foot Cat 6 Belkin gold series Ethernet Cable from EBay for under $20 dollars. My router was 32 feet from the PlayStation 3 and the next available reasonable cable size was 25 Feet. If you are closer your cable will cost less and you could also use a Cat 5 cable with good results. Because I only had a cable connection and did not have a router I purchased a Cisco Linksys wireless-n-broadcast Router to allow me to set up the PS3. I found than I could have purchased the cheaper router without wireless capability, but at least now I also have wireless if I need it for something else. The router I purchased was wireless and also had four different slots to attach the Ethernet cable. I was using only one for the computer. I have a basement and it was easy for me to just go down from one room and back up behind the PS3 in the other room. I found that the reception was much better and the connection quicker with the Ethernet Cable than it was using a wireless connection. What ever set up you have you need to connect the cable from the back of the router to the back of the PlayStation 3. Once the connection is complete you need to go to the setting on the PS3 and go down to the very bottom and click network connections. Then click Internet connection settings. You should have no problems letting the machine complete the connection. If your router is password protected then you might need to enter that information. I can not remember if I only had to do it with the wireless connection.

What is the simpler form of wireless network?

... a wired one? The easiest way to form a computer network is to plug two computers into each other via an ethernet cable and share out their drives to one another. If you're wondering how to make a wireless network in simplest terms, then you need the following: A Wireless Router A Wireless Network Adapter (on all remote computers) Ethernet Cable (CAT-5 : usually comes with the router hardware) Follow the installation notes that come with the Wireless Router. The most reliable of which, in my opinion, are the Belkin or Linksys devices. As a general outline, you basically plug your DSL cable (or highspeed internet cable) into the router, then plug the router into a desktop system via ethernet cable, then power on the router. It's as simple as that, so far as installation goes. On the remote computers insure that a wireless network adapter is installed and in use and check to see if they're receiving the signal. . Remember that you can always check the manufacturer website for extra help with your wireless router and wireless network adapter devices. It can get tricky, depending on the security and applications that you want to utilize on the network, so having the manufacturer FAQ at hand is a good idea.
