How have your ideas about energy and its forms to after reading this lesson provide an example to describe how you would have thought about energy compared to how you think about it now
Energy is defined as the ability to do work. Five forms of energy are nuclear, thermal, mechanical, chemical and gravitational.
solar energy,nuclear energy,chemical energy,hydro energy,potential energy
They are not the same.Electricity and sound are two forms of energy. Electricity can be used to generate sound, for example in a doorbell. But once converted, the sound disperses and cannot be used as energy.
For example thermal energy.

There are many forms of energy and energy conversions, but the most common forms of energy are mechanical energy, gravitational energy, electrical energy, radiant energy, nuclear energy, sound energy, chemical energy, and thermal energy.

Potential energy and kinetic energy are two forms of energy. Potential energy is stored energy and is the energy of position; gravitational energy is an example of potential energy. Kinetic energy is the motion of waves, molecules, objects, and substances.

heat
kinetic energy can be converted into other forms of energy... And vise vers. For example, kinetic energy can be converted into electrical energy by a generator or into thermal energy by the brakes on a car.

That means that other forms of energy can be converted to heat, and - with some limitations - heat can be converted to other forms of energy. A certain amount of movement energy (for example) always converts to a certain amount of heat. So, it certainly looks as if there is "something" that the different things (for example, movement and heat) have in common. This "something" is now called "energy".
You cannot destroy or create energy: you can only convert it into other forms For example: fuel into heat energy.
